Shiloh "The House of Praise" COGIC

The Shiloh Church has celebrated 65 years of history in the City of McKinney. In 2004, Shiloh relocated to the City of Melissa. Shiloh is proud of its compassionate history in the community. The Shiloh Church is affectionately known as “The House of Praise”, inspiring those who have been and are a part of the heritage of McKinney and Melissa; that God inhabits the praises of his people. The ministry of Shiloh has contributed to the discipleship of numerous saints, ministries, mending of broken hearts, and revitalizing of shattered dreams of many in the community; encouraging hope through prayer for the hopeless.

Church History

The Shiloh Church began as a home mission in 1939 under the leadership of Elder C.C. Cobbins.

Elder J. Luster purchased the first portion of property in 1940 for $81.00. The first structure was built in 1942. From 1942-1948 the church had four Pastors all assisted by Elder J. Luster. The first was Elder Mason, then Elder Nolan, Elder Polk and Elder C. D. Clark.

In 1949 Bishop F.W. Smith Jr. became the fifth pastor and built the second structure in the early 1950’s. In 1994 Bishop Smith appointed Elder Frank Smith III as the sixth pastor. In 1998 Elder Frank Smith III resigned and Bishop Smith again pastored the church. In 1999 Bishop Smith placed Elder Paul Jackson at the church to serve as his assistant and appointed him as Pastor in July 2000.
Pastor Jackson came into the church with an open vision implementing various new programs: Community Outreach, Benevolence Fund, and Widow’s Assistance (just to name a few). First Lady, Sis. Vicki Jackson added a new flavor to the Women’s Department; selecting a deserving woman to serve as Ms. Shiloh on a quarterly basis.

Pastor Jackson saw the need for a building fund to renovate its current structure, however due to the age and condition of the building the decision was determined to rebuild or purchase a facility suitable for worship. Following several contractual designs for building and land lock hindrances to build on current site, God opened the door to purchase the First Baptist church of Melissa.

The Shiloh church family entered into its new facility with great anticipation and vision. Celebrating it’s anniversary with the theme: “An Open Door in 2004.” Shiloh remains a hand clapping, foot stomping, tongue talking, Pentecostal Church of God in Christ.

Today, 7 years later in the City of Melissa; and all together, Shiloh celebrates 72 years!!!
